3d Animations in After effects

In 2023 I discovered 2 things:
- Microsoft had their own 3d model making software (mostly for 3d printing purposes), called Microsoft 3d Builder.
- And if you downloaded a beta version of After Effect you could add 3d models to a scene.
So using these two tools I created 2 short scenes using a ship made in Ms3Dbuilder.
The modeling proces of the ship was quite a challenge; as I was trying to figure out to create certain shapes with the shapes I had.
However, once I did have those shapes and I applied some custom textures toit, it really came together.

3d in drawings/illustrations
After discovering Ms 3d Builder, I tried to apply 3d in my drawings as well. I mostly used it to create complex objects or create a certain perspective with a building. It was fun to figure out what could work in 2d, but I did notice that this tool wasn't made for any of this.

3d Animations in Blender
Much later, I saw a challenge to pick up blender and try to recreate the shot from After Effects; hoping that the tools would translate well between each other.
When I finally had time, I modelded a new ship/plane in Blencer, and began working on textures, shaders and animation.
Even after I did everything I wanted to achieve, there was still something missing. So, I would later draw speed lines and add waterspray using Krita's animation tool.
Thar drawing process was extremely mindnumbing, though also therapeutic. I'm glad that I pushed through with that, since it really gives it a bit more oompf.
